(Groningen, 1979 – 1990)

Bio: Started in the bedroom of Frank in 1978 as Teddy Braaksel & The Zippers with Sietse and Appie on guitar, Mark on vocals, Frank on bass and Hein on drums.  When Sietse and Appie left, they bought a guitar and drumkit and changed the name into Boegies in 1979. Joost replaces Frank on bass and Frank replaced Robert on vocals. Did the first concert on 5 January 1980 in youthcenter Simplon on a punkfestival. In 1982 they changed members (bass and vocals). When Frank leaves, Mark the guitarplayer sings until a new singer is found and the style begins to change from hardcore to punk. When Eddy joins the band (coming from The Chops) in 1982, they distinguish themselves by his bizarre and comical acts. Their combination of (dutch language) funpunk singalongs larded with ska and rock’n’roll turns out to be very succesful. In 1984 they put out their first LP called “Wij Zijn Zwijn” with the subtitle: “the 29 best drinksongs”. In 1984 bassplayer Bogdan gets replaced by Ricky. The 2nd LP “Parels Voor De Zwijnen” gets alot of national media attention when a famous Dutch personality declares the song “Meh” the pinnacle of anarchopoetics. In 1986 Ricky suddenly leaves the band and gets replaced by Maarten. In 1988 the third LP is released by Tophole Records. On their 4th LP “A terrible Swine Disease” they’re trying to get a hold of the international scene by singing more English language songs. Eventually they don’t get further than Belgium and Germany. On 6 january 1990 they play their 10th anniversary in the Oosterpoort Groningen during the Noorderslag festival. In this same year they decide to stop and give the final gig on 30 june 1990, also in the Oosterpoort. From the ashes of Boegies rise two new bands: Dandruff!! and Jammah Tammah.
